Regis is happy to announce a new addition to its Process Chemistry department, Eric Buck, Ph.D. Eric joined our team in October 2018 as a Process Development Chemist III. His main responsibility is to safely develop and scale up APIs for commercial manufacturing.
Eric graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry. In 2012, he earned his doctoral degree in organic synthesis from the University of Pittsburg with his thesis of “Synthetic studies toward anatoxin-a(s).” In 2013, he returned to the University of Minnesota for post-doctoral research on developing oligomeric polymers from biorenewable sources.
Eric brings industry experience as a research and development chemist. Working recently at Fontarome Chemical and Apiscent Labs, he was responsible for process transfer, development, and improvement on flavors and fragrances, nutraceuticals, and active pharmaceutical ingredients.
Beyond Eric’s chemistry skills, he has also spent years developing his competitive volleyball skills. Since joining club volleyball as a U of MN undergrad, he has loved the sport. He plays league games multiple nights a week and in tournaments most weekends. He belongs to a Milwaukee/Chicago-based indoor team (they placed 22 / 52 in the last Men’s A national competition) and in the summer spends most of his weekends at the beach playing volleyball. Still a Milwaukee resident, Eric says his home competition is tough but Chicago’s is even steeper.
We are glad Eric is enjoying the challenges on court and in the lab and are excited to have him on our team.
